Elsie Lucille Grounds

She attended Sam Houston High School, after which, she married Paul R. Evans and lived in Houston and Galveston for 41 years. Paul died in 1985 and in 1987 she married former Sam Houston High School friend Howard M. Grounds. They remained married 31 years until Howard passed away in 2018. In recent years she has had Richard Bittner as a companion and caregiver. Lucille’s passions included flower gardening, painting, dancing, big band music and being in Galveston.

She was preceded in death by her older son, Robert Paul Evans in 2014 and her daughter-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Evans in 2001.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, Patsy Jorgensen and her husband Roy, stepdaughter Debbie Copeland and her husband Monroe, her son Greg E. Evans, daughters-in-law Mary Jane Evans, Sheila Galloway-Evans and Kay Evans. She has 9 grandchildren/step-grandchildren - Christopher Evans, Nicole Evans, William Galloway-Evans, Paul Evans, Lucy Evans, Alyssa Cartwright, Debra Orton-Cram, Michael Copeland, Jeffrey Copeland, Charla Wooten, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598 (281 332-3111) on Monday, February 24, 2015 at 1 PM in the Chapel.
