Emir was born in Taft, Texas, on March 16, 1940, as one of six siblings to parents Nicolas and Timotea Guevara. He completed high school and went on to earn an associate's degree in Computer Science. Emir took great pride in his service in the Air Force from 1961 to 1964, where he worked as a jet engine mechanic. Following his military service, he moved to the Houston area where he worked in several fields, eventually retiring after over 25 years as a computer operator, having worked at Chevron, St. Lukes, and UT Health Science Center.
He shared a loving marriage with Paulita “Polly” Guevara for 39 years until her passing in 2011, and together they raised four beautiful children. Emir had a knack for working on cars and was known as a fixer-upper. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, and had a secret identity as Superman amongst his kids, but he was best known as Papa to us all. He had a serious love for sweets, especially big, white, cake which he called BWC and was always ready for a slice. He was a dedicated volunteer and teacher at his church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Manvel and especially loved teaching the children at CCE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolas and Timotea Guevara; his wife, Paulita “Polly” Guevara; and brothers Gilbert Guevara, Leo Guevara, and Hector Guevara.
He is survived by his children Cynthia Giron (Fred), Selma Gallagher (Sean), Emily Guevara (Eric), and Emir Guevara, Jr. (Ashley); grandchildren Chloe, Shaelyn, Tre', Jaron, Cohen, and Shiloh; and one great-grandson, Rylan. He also leaves behind his brother Nicolas Guevara Jr., sister Alicia Benavidez, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family who loved him dearly.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598, on July 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, with a committal service and reception to follow at the same location.
