Enrique was the son of Jose Vega Mendoza and Dolores Ponce Vega and was born in General Teran, N.L., Mexico. In the early 70’s he moved to the USA and for many years was a resident of Houston and retired as a welder. He was a born-again Christian, a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Galena Park, Texas. He loved the work of the Lord and was involved in several ministries. He was a Deacon, Food Pantry worker and most notably a prayer warrior and his passion to witness to others about his faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. His favorite Bible verse was: “…I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” John 11:25
He had three qualities that were evident; he was simple, sensible, and a cheerful giver. Enrique did not hesitate to help others especially those in the church mission field here and in Mexico.
He loved his family and liked spending time studying the word of God, sharing a good meal, and assuring those who visited or called him that he was praying for them.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of many years Virginia, his children Ruth Keen, Josue & Emma Vega, Noe Vega, Enrique & Peggy Vega, Rebeca Vega, Edith & Leo Mendoza, and Daniel & Liz Vega; 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents Jose and Dolores Vega, brother Jose P. Vega, son-in-law Jackie D. Keen and daughter-in-law Maria Dolores Vega.
