

A fifth-generation American, Evelyn traced her paternal ancestry to German immigrants who arrived in Galveston in 1848 and helped settle the Spring Branch area of Houston. She served as genealogist for the Bauer Family Reunion and edited two volumes of family history. She also conducted genealogical research on her maternal Hispanic heritage and was a member of the Texas Hispanic Genealogical Society.
Evelyn had a long-standing interest in music and participated in the Houston Choral Society and World Voice Houston, performing in multiple languages and styles. She was also a skilled dressmaker and quilter. Professionally, she worked as a dental hygienist for 35 years.
Her community involvement included membership in the Gulf Coast Railway Historical Society, Toastmasters (14 years), Friends Women, and the League City Historical Society. She held leadership roles in the Mid-America Friends Women and contributed to several newsletters. She was also affiliated with the Houston Astronomical Society, the Galveston County Children’s Service Board, and two chapters of the Texas Federation of Republican Women.
Evelyn married Anthony James Daniels in 1968. They had three children: Lesley Janine Bohn, Noel Danielle Ivey, and Christian Claud Daniels, who died in infancy. Noel is married to Boyce Ray Ivey Jr., and their son, Liam Christian Ray Ivey, is Evelyn’s grandson.
In 1990, Evelyn married David Paul Garland. They shared their love of train travel and adventure. They were together for 35 years.
Evelyn is predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Josephine Albrecht, her precious brother, William Leslie Albrecht, and her son Christian Claud Daniels.
Besides her daughters and husband, Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Mary Jo Stutzman and husband, Frank, Caroline Jane Wofford and husband Lewis all of League City, Texas, and brother Leslie Smith Albrecht, Jr. and wife Joyce Miller Albrecht, of Georgia. She had 3 nieces Annette Stutzman Felts (Benny), Gloria Lynn Stutzman Wilbers (Bob), Cynthia Lynn Wofford Haught (Jim) and 3 nephews, Frank Ross Stutzman, Jr., Jason Lewis Wofford, and Jarred Smith Albrecht (Julie Clark). There are also 7 great nephews, 4 great nieces, and 5 great, great nephews and 3 great, great nieces.
A service to honor Evelyn is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Forest Park East Chapel, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. Visitation will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, from 1-2 PM.
