Farrel Louise Maynard Locklin, born July 28, 1946 in St Joseph's Hospital, Houston to Uta Breaux and George Maynard went to be with Our Lord January 24th at Houston Methodist Hospital in the arms of her children.
Farrel, best known to all as "Honey", was born with an extra dose of sass, humor, strong will, and emotional toughness. She no doubt passed these traits down to her children, which in the end of her life proved to be an important part of her journey.
Honey was as unique as her name, Farrel. From her raven black hair and fiery green eyes to her easy going, never met a stranger, personality. She was truly unforgettable. Honey seemed to leave behind beautiful things wherever she went with her unfair share of creativity. Honey knew no boundaries with her talent. Ask her if she could do something she'd say "Sure!", and she could. She could make and bead stunning wedding dresses, arrange flowers, cater a wedding, wrap the most gorgeous presents, change your car tire and oil, bake the most beautiful and delicious baked goods all while pointing out every make and model of vehicles and she absolutely loved the slots at the casinos. She created Christmas tree skirts and stockings and preemie baby gowns to donate to local hospitals. She did all of this while dressed feminine, with her trademark long nails and beautiful diamonds, while driving her red Cadillac coupe, Jezebel. Honey did indeed love the finer things in life. Honey was a hairdresser for almost 60 years. She made lifelong friends along the way, too many to count. She was a giver, a giver to everyone! The most generous person you'd ever have the pleasure of knowing.
Honey's family was her everything! Her children and grandchildren left to miss her are as follows:
Michelle Partin (Cary), Ryan Champ (Dakota), Randon Cole, Jenny (Brian), Ellison, Brent (Parwana), & baby Abram; Michael Locklin (Tara), Chris (Shannon), Colt and Savea, Jordan, Ryan, & Shelby;
Nikki Seymour (Gawain), Taylor, Micah, Christian, Nicholas, & Shay; Niece Kayman Maynard Reese (Ian) and especially her little man chihuahua, Manny, named after her beloved brother.
Honey was preceded in death by her parents, Uta Breaux and George Maynard and her brother, who was not only her partner in crime but her best friend, Gordon Joseph Maynard. And, our father, Dennis Michael, Mike, the man she was madly in love with from age 14 to her death. The man that her children remember would pull the truck over on the highway to pick her wild flowers.
Private funeral to be held at Forrest Park East, Webster Texas on Thursday, Jan.28, 11am with The Reverend Dr. Curley H. Laster to officiate. Facebook live stream: https://www.facebook.com/293319001145163
