

Gloria Peebles passed away on December 24, 2015. For her kids, grandkids, and many family, friends, and students, she was their biggest cheerleader. She did not hesitate to share her pride in them with anyone who would listen. Gloria graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1966 and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She earned a Masters degree in Educational Administration and a second Masters degree in English Literature from the University of Houston - Clear Lake. She began her 35-year teaching career in Shiner, TX. She taught middle school and high school English in Aldine ISD, Galena Park ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Pasadena ISD. She was an Adjunct Professor of English Composition at San Jacinto College and College of the Mainland and mentored student teachers at Houston Community College. She volunteered for many years with Odyssey of the Mind as a coach (including for her son's team), mentor, judge, and Regional Director. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Peebles, daughter Rebecca Peebles, brother Michael Rohlfing, mother Rosalie Rohlfing, step-father Richard Rohlfing, and father James Campbell. She is survived by brother and sister-in-law Fred and Kay Campbell, children Emily Peebles and Joseph Peebles, daughter-in-law Kathryn Peebles, and grandchildren Ewan, Adelyn, and Jocelyn Peebles.
