He was born in Hemer, Germany on May 9, 1931 to Ernst Philipp and Ilse Steur Waldheim. Harry’s remarkable life includes being a Holocaust survivor, serving dutifully in the US Navy, and loving all of his families!
Harry served in the US Navy for 5 years and truly loved America. He was then married to Irma Waldheim, and had twin girls, Susan and Julie, and two sons Alan and Mark. After the passing of Irma, he decided to travel across the United States with his dog companion Ginger. After his return, he began attending Sagemont Church where he learned more about Jesus Christ. Being born Jewish and escaping to the United States at age 10, his life journey was very interesting to say the least. Ultimately, he was baptized by Stuart Rothberg at Sagemont Church and became a Messianic Jew. Harry and Barbara met at church, and after losing both of their spouses, they ended up getting married in 2015. Harry and Barbara spent the next 8 years traveling and serving Jesus together. He was thankful for their trip to Israel in 2015 where they were baptized in Jordan River. Harry was also part of the 2019 Honor Flight Network to Washington DC where he was honored for his service in the Korean War. Harry’s name was also installed on the wall at the Holocaust Museum in Houston, TX. There was never a dull moment when Harry was around! He never missed a party, family gathering, or any people event. He especially loved taking cruises. Harry was the Patriarch of both blended families and will be missed drastically.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Ilse Waldheim, his wife Irma Waldheim, his daughters, Julie Waldheim Hampton and Susan Waldheim, and his brother Manfred “Manny” Waldheim.
Harry is survived by his wife, Barbara Waldheim of Galveston. He also leaves behind son Alan Waldheim of Friendswood, son Mark Waldheim and wife Diane of Sugarland and son Steve Hampton of Clear Lake. Stepdaughter Allison Little and husband Pat of Galveston, and stepson David Eby Jr. of Galveston and Sister-in-law Joan Waldhiem of Colorado. Grandchildren include David Waldheim, Michael Waldheim, Jordin Waldheim, Samantha Waldheim, Kelly Waldheim, Brooke Hampton and Jason Hampton, Kevin Dean, Kourtney Michelle, Erin Eby Mayeaux and Lauren Eby. He was blessed with three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Harry is leaving an amazing legacy for all of us to live by and love by and laugh by. We all miss you so much!
