
Henry Jonas, resident of Tiki Island, was born March 16, 1937 in Austin, Texas to parents Henry F. Jonas, Jr. and Earle Adams Jonas. He passed away February 3, 2011 in Galveston, Texas. He was a graduate of Lamar High School in 1955 and Texas Tech University 1962. He also attended University of Houston where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He retired from Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages after 20 years and then owned several businesses. He was an avid scuba diver, taking many trips to Cozumel, Mexico. Henry served on the Tiki Island Board of Aldermen for 7 years and as mayor from 2003-2005. He also served on the Lake Forest Water Board for 8 years. He is a former member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Deavitt of California.
He married Diane Pearson Jonas on September 2, 1961 and she survives him. He is also survived by his daughters, Susan McKee and husband Mack, and Kathy Yargo and husband Billy; grandchildren, Matthew Yargo, Leah Yargo, Katie McKee and Allison McKee; niece, Mary Anne Brown of Baton La.; nephew, Mike Deavitt of Santa Rosa, Ca.; and many many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011, at 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home Chapel, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas.
