Herberta Angel Nelson passed away on September 9, 2021, in Houston Texas at the age of 84. Angel will be lovingly missed by her four children, Lloyd J. Nelson, Natalie (Bunny) Nelson, Nina (Nelson) and her husband Dan Huber, Amo and Roberta Nelson, her four grandchildren and three great-grandsons. She is also survived by her sister Renee White and her son Kendall White. She was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel J. Nelson in 1984.
Herberta, known in life as "Angel" was just that to everyone she touched. Angel was born and raised in New York. She was a devoted wife of 25 years, to the only love of her life. In the early years, Angel and Nate embarked on a life of music and travel as they built their family. She was the center of her family's life. From the urging of her eldest son Lloyd, Angel joined Mary Kay Cosmetics and started a business where she blossomed from Novice to Powerhouse in her 40-year sales career. She was an Influencer before it became what it is today. She enjoyed involving her family in all things business, as we were fondly known as her ‘Mary Kay Kids.’
She was famously known for buzzing around New England, in her Pink Cadillac. Whether shuttling her kids around town, delivering customer orders, or leading training classes and sales meetings, Angel did it all with grace. Through it all, she kept her sense of humor. She was infamous for her one -liners, but we refer to them as ‘Angel-isms.’ “Don’t ever make a decision, based on a dollar” and “remember to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize”
In the early 2000’s Angel relocated to the Texas coastline where she lived with her daughter Nina and her husband. She enjoyed the warmer winters of the Gulf Coast while expanding her Mary Kay business until retirement.
Angel’s remains will be placed with her husband in Massachusetts in a private ceremony. Angel was an avid animal lover. The family has requested donations be made to Houston SPCA in her memory, in lieu of flowers.
