Hugh was born in Houston, Texas, on August 28, 1941, to Hugh M Miller, Jr. and Judy H. Miller. He was raised on the East side of Houston and attended Galena Park High School. He later served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Polk, in Louisiana. After the military, Hugh went to work for Exxon in Houston before eventually moving on to Shell Oil, where he built a remarkable career spanning 31 years.
Throughout his life, Hugh found lasting fraternity and purpose through his membership in the Galena Park Lodge, The Houston Scottish Rite, and the Houston Arabia Shriners—places where commitment, camaraderie, and tradition are held in high regard, and where he was proud to belong.
Hugh was proceeded in death by his father, Hugh M. Miller, Jr., and his mother, Judy H. Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Yvonne W. Miller of Houston; his son, Brad M. Miller and wife Janet G. Miller of Houston; his grandson, Chase M. Miller and wife Anjali Miller of Washington; and his two great-grandchildren, Buddy and Sonia Miller, both of Washington.
Hugh’s life was defined by steadfast devotion—to his family, to his work, and to the values that guided him from boyhood in Houston through a lifetime of service and fellowship. He will be deeply missed, warmly remembered, and enduringly honored by all who knew and loved him.
