Ivan Pekarek, 76, died October 19, 2026. Born February 28, 1950, in Prague, Czech Republic, Ivan was the son of Josef and Olga Pekarek, and he carried with him through every season of life—the steadiness of someone shaped by devotion to family and the pride of where he began.
In 1968, Ivan moved to the United States, settling first in the New England area and beginning the work of building a life through persistence and sheer determination. Over time, his journey took him to New York, where he met Diane Felice—the great love who would become his wife, Diane Pekarek. Together they made their way to Florida and ultimately to Houston, Texas, creating a home built on commitment, forward motion, and the belief that the best chapters are the ones you write side by side.
Ivan was, at his core, a tireless provider and a man who believed in showing up fully—at work, at home, and for the people around him. Steadfast in his chosen vocation, he devoted more than 30 years to the Houston Pilots, assisting with transportation along the Houston ship channel. He was proud of his responsibilities and generous with his effort, bringing a steady hand, a get-it-done mindset, and the kind of reliability others leaned on without hesitation.
In his younger years, Ivan enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his wife and daughter. As he grew older, most of his free time was spent creating memories with his daughter and grandchildren.
Ivan’s life was defined by hard work, open hearted connection, and a giving spirit that showed itself in countless steady, everyday ways. The legacy he leaves is not only in years and milestones, but in the people who were strengthened by his presence—and in the conversations, friendships, and love that continue because he was here.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Josef and Olga Pekarek, and by his wife of 36 years, Diane Pekarek.
He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Robbins, and her husband, Robert Robbins; his grandchildren, Sean Robbins, Savannah Robbins, and Serenity Robbins; his brother, Pavel Pekarek; his niece, Lucie Thistle, her husband, Jessie Thistle and their daughter, Rose Thistle.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
