Jack was born April 21, 1955, and was a long-time resident of League City, Texas before moving to Alvin. For those of you who lived in League City, you may have seen Jack’s business sign, “McClure’s Machine & Tool Co.” located on E. Walker Street. This business was Jack’s pride and joy, and he was extremely dedicated and proficient at his craft as a machinist and welder, which his paternal grandfather did before him.
In his early years, he loved the competitiveness of sports, whether it be baseball, basketball, tennis, target shooting, and archery. He also enjoyed wrestling and weight-lifting, something he shared with his father. He owned several motorcycles, some for the road and others for off-roading, which he enjoyed immensely due to the exhilaration of this sport. Jack also had a passion for music, he played guitar and sang, and was quite talented. He loved computers and gaming. Full on gaming battles occurred frequently at his home, and it was exciting, fun, and competitive. He was a science fiction enthusiast and an avid collector of sci-fi memorabilia and movies. Some of his favorite sci-fi shows included Star Trek and Babylon 5. In fact, one of his fondest memories was attending a Babylon 5 convention in Galveston, Texas, where he was able to meet and take photos with many of his favorite actors from the series. In his later years he enjoyed movie watching and began collecting series of TV shows he grew up with such as Andy Griffith. He enjoyed indoor games such as pool and shuffle board. If you knew Jack very well, you’d be in awe over his passion for living life to the fullest, and determined to master whatever peaked his interest, which he did with ease.
