

James Berry Goan, Jr., 88, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 10, 1926 to James Berry Goan and Catherine Ramona Smith. He was married to Laverne Mahon for 35 years. Jim had a career in locksmith for Cole National; Montgomery Ward; Gerald D. Hines; self-employed. He was a member of City Councilman; Mayor –Both Eagle Point, OR and had a passion for golf, bowling, and enjoyed watching most sports. He was preceded in death by his father, James B. Goan; mother, Catherine Ramona Smith; daughter, Donna K. Thornton; sisters Ann Lavoy and Ada Brown; and brothers Patrick, Richard, and Walter. He is survived by wife, Laverne; sons David and wife Julie, Dennis and wife Marlene, Dreux, Daniel, and James and wife Tonya; son-in-law, Charles Thornton; daughters Diane Guzman, Denise Phillips and husband Ewell; brothers William, John and wife Marie, and David and wife Helena; sisters Alice Kinstle and husband Larry, Dorothy Christiansen, Kathleen, and Enid; grandchildren Monica, Patrick, Gabe, Emily, Solana, Rainya, Daniel, Jennifer, Lauren, Charles, Karli, Eavannah, Jamiah, Jessica, Stephanie, Chevy, and Chase; and great-grandchildren Asha, Gia, Mason, Hank, Hudson, Leo, and Archie. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with funeral services beginning at 10 a.m. After the funeral service, all friends and family are invited to Dreux's house for refreshments; 122 North Illinois League City, Texas 77598.
