James (Jim) Edward Pinson, 89, Seabrook, Texas passed away on May 3, 2024, in League City, Texas. He was born in Carroll County, Tennessee to William Veron Pinson and Georgia Ann Cole Pinson on November 7, 1934.
Jim was a graduate of Wichita State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. With that degree he pursued a career with Boeing/NASA that lasted 45 years until his retirement in 1998. During that time, he received many awards including the prestigious Silver Snoopy. Recipients of the Silver Snoopy are chosen by the astronauts themselves after having been flown in space.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, taxidermy, TV repair, and working on cars. He was a hardworking, sincere family man. Jim served proudly in the US Air Force from 1953-1957 during the Korean War and was stationed on an island in the Yellow Sea 7 miles off North Korea. Jim married Cynthia Daly on November 4, 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Georgia Pinson; first wife Wanda Pinson; son Terence Pinson; and brother Joseph Pinson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia of 28 years; children Karen Pinson Kittley and James Andrew Pinson; step-children Deborah Kinsey Masterson, William Kinsey, Daniel Daly, and Brendan Daly; grandchildren Micheal Pinson, Tracy Pinson West, Sarah Ettredge, Seth Pinson, and Hunter Pinson; great-grandchildren Garrett West, Raelynn West, Layla Dietrich, Ryder Ettredge, Hayden Pinson and Lucy Pinson; great-great-grandchild William DePascal; sister Lou Annie Hixson and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 2:00 pm. with interment to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery.
