James Edward Powell

James Edward Powell “Eddie” was born June 16, 1953 in Houston, Texas. He is the son of deceased parents John Thomas Powell and Kathleen Elizabeth Powell. He is survived by his beloved wife of nineteen years, Elizabeth Ann Lindsey Powell, siblings Mary Ward Sneed and husband Charles Sneed, Celia Bonney and husband Jim Bonney, Bob Powell and wife Vicki Powell, son James Cody Powell, stepdaughter, Sarah Shahriari and many dear nieces, cousins and wonderful friends.

When Eddie was a child, he loved visiting family in Brownwood, Texas where he helped with chickens, cows and roamed the countryside. As an adult, Eddie was a loving son and became wonderful support for his parents in their later years. He was a devoted husband and enjoyed many trips to Llano and Texas rivers with Elizabeth. The loving couple also made trips to New Braunfels with Sarah to admire nature and beautiful waters. Cooking together daily was a great joy and a focus of family fellowship. Eddie always looked forward to the Sturkie family reunion in Oklahoma where he visited with cousins and listened to tall tales and fished. He loved his family.

Eddie experienced a rewarding 32-year career with Friendswood Independent School District. Eddie stated that his work at Friendswood ISD allowed him to accomplish goals he thought were out of his reach. James Edward Powell is a professed Christian and beloved by family, friends and co-workers. He will be in our hearts forever.
