James Boyd Thompson, Jr. (Tim) was born in Modesto, California on July 17th 1944. He was raised in Modesto and Merced, California before moving to Laguna Beach where he graduated from Laguna Beach High School. Tim then moved to Santa Barbara where he learned to be a commercial deep sea diver. He lived and traveled all over the world including Israel and the Canary Islands. He moved to Texas in 1975 where he worked for Oceaneering and then was a founding partner of Cal Dive before starting his own commercial diving company, Offshore Diving Inc. He had a love of the ocean and was a swimmer throughout his life. He also loved gardening and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Thompson and father, James Boyd Thompson, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Thompson; daughter, Michele Moe (Thompson) and son-in-law, John Moe; son, Mark Thompson and wife, Kimberly Thompson; brother Kip Thompson; sisters Julie Marchini and Jane Thompson. He is also survived by his step daughters, Dustee and husband, Edgar Rivera; Jessica Hiatt and Donna Early, Amanda and husband, Edward Shalkey and grandchildren Courtney Strickland, Elisa Shalkey, Alexandria (Lexi), Luis DeHoyos, Adriel and Gabe Rivera.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15th at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
