Janice Wheeler peacefully went to be with Our Lord on August 11th, 2026. Janice was born on February 9th, 1937 in Ewing, TX. She spoke often of the beauty of East Texas & of the many adventures she experienced with her parents & siblings in the Piney Woods.
A member of United Pentecostal Church for many years, Janice’s heavenly gift was helping others, even in those times when she had very little to give. Janice & late husband Carl were very active in music ministry, both locally & out of state, performing at countless church services & revivals over the years.
Janice is preceded in death by husband Carl Wheeler; parents Henry & Ruth Cook; daughter Denise Beard; sister Linda McDougald; and, brothers Earl Cook, Lloyd Cook, & Hubert Cook.
She is survived by daughter Malinda Garcia (Alex); son Gregory Askew (Dawn); son-in-law Thomas Beard; grandchildren Amber Hinojosa (Fernando), Chase Johnson, Brianna Garcia, Chad Johnson, Ryan Garcia, Alise Askew Hartigan (Adam), & Luke Askew; great-grandchildren Atticus Hartigan, Angus Hartigan, & Violet Benavidez; and, great-niece Jessie Weaver.
Funeral service will be on August 19th, 2026 at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM immediately followed by a celebration of life service in the main chapel, concluding with procession & interment.
