Jerry L. Vaughan Sr.

JERRY LYNN VAUGHAN, 74, our dear father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on April 11, 2014. Jerry was born May 11, 1939 in Galveston, Texas. He was a graduate of Kirwin High School in Galveston and the University of Houston. Jerry was well-loved by his family; an avid sailor and writer; and his love of life, optimism, and resilience is an inspiration for all.

Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry L. Vaughan, Jr.; daughters Kristen Vaughan Huntley and Karen Vaughan Lynch; sons-in-law Clayton Huntley and Robert Lynch; and grandchildren Steven & Isabel Huntley and Nicole & Benjamin Lynch. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Betty Castiglioni; sister-in-law Oralee Vaughan; sisters-in-law Pauline Roark and Kathy Duplissey; brothers-in-law Jimmy Roark and Clyde Duplissey; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maridell Roark Vaughan; his parents, Bert Rosencrance Vaughan and Olivia Stanley Vaughan; his sister, Lillian Vaughan; and his brother, Jesse “Buster” Vaughan.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Chapel, 21620 Gulf Freeway (I-45), Webster, TX 77598. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent in memory of Jerry Vaughan to the Rotary Club Foundation of Galveston, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 810, Galveston, TX 77553.
