Jim B. Varnell

Jim attended the University of Arkansas where he was a running back for the Razorbacks. Following his time at the university, he served in the United States Marine Corp until 1947.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved being outdoors. Jim was a lifetime member of the University of Houston Alumni Association and was a passionate U of H sports fan. Jim was a firm believer of God and a dedicated member of Sagemont Church. His relationship with Christ was the foundational aspect of his life.

Jim is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patti Sue Varnell; his three grandchildren, James Ryan Varnell, Alec Timothy & Andreya Michelle Varnell, Lydia Shannon Varnell; and his grandchild, Liam James Varnell. Jim is preceded in death by his son James Timothy Varnell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Forest Park East Funeral Home with Interment following at Forest Park East Cemetery.
