John was born on December 21, 1970, the only child to parents Roslyn Louviere Accomando and Frank Accomando. John was a product of Clear Creek ISD in League City where he made lifelong friends. When he graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1989, John was one of 25 seniors who received the faculty Medallion Award given to outstanding seniors who exhibited service, leadership, character, and scholarship during their high school years.
John loved rescue work at an early age and dedicated his life to community and health care services. John joined the League City Volunteer Fire Department at age 16. He also worked at the League City pool as a lifeguard and swimming instructor, teaching the water babies class. He was an Explorer with the League City Police Department in 1987.
John received an Associate degree for emergency medical technician from San Jacinto Junior College. He served at EMS Chief in League City from October 1993 to May 2004. He followed that with an Associate degree as a paramedic. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with a 4.0 GPA from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in May 2009.
John reached his lifelong goal of being a degreed nurse for Life Flight in 2009. Prior to that, he was the clinical director of EMS of Montgomery County Hospital District and a Life Flight paramedic for Memorial Hermann at Houston Medical Center.
John’s favorite hobby was scuba diving. He was certified at the age of 12 and enjoyed diving with his dad Frank on many family vacations to Hawaii, Grand Cayman, and St. Thomas. As an adult, John renewed himself after working at his high-stress job by going on scuba trips to the Carribean with many friends.
John was survived by his son Andrew Frank Accomando, his daughter Lauren Ann Accomando, and their mother Rachel Elaine Accomando, his parents Frank and Roslyn Accomando, his aunts Vinci Greco, Alma Louviere Landry, his uncle Cordell G. Louviere, his great-aunt Doris Granger Prados, his great uncle Alfred Granger, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lena Sciortina Accomando and John Accomando and Odette Granger Louviere and H. J. Amos Louviere and cousin David Greco.
The visitation will be at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker, League City, Texas on Friday, December 28th from 6 to 9 pm with the celebration service at 7 pm. The funeral will be at St. Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, December 29th at 10:30 am with a luncheon immediately following at Cargill Hall on the church grounds.
