

JOHN EDMUND CAMPBELL, 54, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, surrounded by family and friends after a battle with pancreatic cancer that began in early 2009. He peacefully passed after celebrating his birthday with family and friends the day before. A devoted father and friend John was the 2nd son of John Dunsmore Campbell and Bernice Joan Van Eyck, and the eldest of the first male twins to be born in St. Luke's Hospital Houston, Texas on May 16, 1956. Survived by his two sons, John Kersey and Myles Edmund, brothers Bobby and Tommy; and sisters Nancy, Margaret, and Jeannie plus numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.In his lifetime John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball with his sons, and loved animals, especially dogs. He coached youth baseball and was notorious for his "Bad News Bears" teams. He taught his boys the essentials of life... How to hunt, how to fish and liberally exercised the right to practice both. A member of the New Life Lutheran Church, Pearland,Texas, he also accomplished the task of becoming a certified captain recognized by the Coast Guard. John worked 15 years with S&B Engineers & Constructors as a petrochemical industrial designer. All family and friends are invited to the memorial service 10:00 am Friday, May 21, 2010 at Forest Park East at 21620 Gulf Freeway, Houston, TX 77598. Visitation with family and friends will be at Forest Park East from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 20, 2010. The family would like to thank those at M.D. Anderson and Houston Hospice whose understanding, support and care went above and beyond.
