I'm not sure if you  received previous letter, so am trying again.
My wife Joyce (d 1964) and I went to BB for Thanksgiving in the early 1960s and after Sunday Mass, I saw and visited with Jack.  He has been in my thoughts recently, so was somewhat surprised to see his obit in the CCC that came yesterday.  He worked for Martin on the Titan at the Test Stands on the hill behind where I worked and where they test fired the stage engines.  I told him I would like to see the firing sometime.  Then we discussed returning to Denver, as there was a big storm coming in.  I told him we were leaving right after an early dinner, and he said he didn't have to go to work until second shift Mon. so they would leave later.  As it turned out, we made it to Denver OK, he and his family, with several little ones, spent several nights around Arnold in a farmhouse due to impassible roads due to the heavy snow and wind.  Later, he called me at work and said they were getting ready for a firing on the hill and invited me to come up and witness it.  This was Stage I that fired its engines and then through marriage cables and the electrical sequence system, the Stage II engines were fired.  I witnessed this from a blockhouse probably less than a 100 feet away.  The sound and light effects were spectacular and I compare this event second after witnessing, in the open, an atomic bomb larger than Nagasaki from about 1-½ miles from ground zero at Yucca Flats, NV.  These are some of the memories that came to me when I read his Obit.

What wonderful neighbors when we lived in Houston!  John was such an honest man.  One who took so much pride in doing his jobs very thoroughly and to the best of his ability.  We appreciated his sweet smile, kind words and willingness to help those around him.  John lived his Christianity.  We will look forward to seeing him again!  May God bless you Joan!
