

John Charles Pierce I, 73, went home to be home with our Lord and Savior May 20, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Wichita, Kansas on July 14, 1943 to Jack and Rosalee Pierce. He attended school in Wichita, Kansas until his father was called to pastor the League City Friends Church. He attended his first two years of high school at Clear Creek High School. Then moved to Haviland, Kansas where he graduated from the Friends Haviland Academy.
John served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1974, which included one year in Vietnam. After the service, he lived in Colorado Springs where he earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice at Pikes Peak Community College, and then Texas A&M for animal science. John retired from the City of League City in 2000 as director of the Animal Care and Adoption Center. Most recently John was a recorded Friends Pastor for Mid America Yearly Meeting. He served as Associate Pastor, also leading Music Ministry, at Lighthouse Fellowship of Friends. He retired from the ministry due to his failing health and moved to Texas City, Texas.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Rosalee Pierce and brother, Gary Pierce.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Susan, son John Pierce II (Joni), son Jeffrey Pierce (Shauna), son Damon Laurion (Michelle), son Jacob Laurion, daughter Sarah Kelly, daughter Margret Harmon (William), 13 grandchildren whom he totally adored, sister Karen Kershner (Michael), along with nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
John was a true man of God, who loved the Lord, his family and friends. He touched people's lives, but never knew just how much. He will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 9:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Services to follow at 10:00 am.
