

Johnnie Scott Matlock passed away in San Antonio on October 12, 2025, with her children by her side. Johnnie was born November 26, 1930, in Nacogdoches, TX to Artis and Winnie Scott and lived her young years in Tarkington Prairie, TX. She married Joe Sidney Matlock and they moved to League City, TX where they raised their family. When the children were all in school, she attended nursing school and found her life's vocation. She loved nursing and served for many years at the Galveston County Memorial Hospital then transferred to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center where she worked until retirement, ICU was her specialty. Joe and Johnnie moved to San Antonio to be closer to their children. It was then that she began her hospital volunteering at St. Lukes Baptist Hospital staying close to her beloved medical profession. She loved to be outside working in her garden or taking long walks for exercise. She loved to travel with the Senior Friends and would never pass up a chance to go dancing.
Her last days were spent at Estates of Shavano Park where she received excellent loving care. The staff became her extended family.
She is survived by her children Lois Matlock Bush (Randy) of Fredericksburg, TX, John Matlock (Sharyl) of Hondo, TX, and David Matlock (Lora) of San Antonio, TX, her 8 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, one brother Artis Glenn Scott (Jean) of Cleveland, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years Joe Sidney Matlock, her parents Artis and Winnie Scott, sisters Mary Ethel Bailey, Edna Murl Cox, brother Billy Dale Scott.
