JoNell Rhodes Norville

JoNell Rhodes Norville, 80, a 58 year resident of Pasadena, TX, went to be with her Lord on May 12, 2015. JoNell was born on July 18, 1934 in Lexington, TX, to parents, Joe and Lois Rhodes. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Hubert N. Norville, her parents, and her sister, Shirley Oldham. She is survived by her brother, Jeff Rhodes and her 3 children: son, Robert (Bob) Norville and his wife JoAnna; daughter, Janis Longley and her husband Dave; and son, Larry Norville and his wife Cynthia. Grandchildren are Ryan Norville, William Norville, Mandy Trom, Kimberly Buzzard, Stephanie Cohen, Cole Norville, Austin Norville and Cody Norville and great grandchildren, Aubrey and Alex Trom, Adalynn Buzzard and Brynn Cohen. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jo Nell graduated from University of Houston in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education. She was employed as an executive secretary for Humble Oil and Refining for 8 years before she began her career as a teacher at Pasadena High School. She loved teaching and taught typing, shorthand, business machines and accounting. JoNell taught at PHS until she retired in 1990. In 1999, the Pasadena Independent School District awarded her the Certificate of Merit for outstanding accomplishment in honored faculty. JoNell loved to read, and passed that love down to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed travel and being with her family. She was a loving and giving woman who loved her family unconditionally and was always available to them. She will be missed dearly and never forgotten. Viewing for family and friends will be Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX from 4-7 pm. Her funeral service will be Monday, May 18, 2015 at Bay Area Christian Church, 14550 Hwy 3, Webster, TX at 10:00am followed by a graveside service. Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society.
