Julie was raised in Lake Charles with her sister Lori. Julie married her high school sweetheart Greg Reeves. They went to college together, and soon started their family. Julie worked as a bank teller and a did some substitute teaching, but her most successful career was raising three daughters. She stayed home with them and taught them to be strong, curious, and independent women. Everything you needed to know about her as a person could be gathered from the way she nurtured, guided, and defended her children. She was dedicated to her family full time until the day she left us.
Julie was many things. She was smart. She passed on many valuable life lessons to those close to her. She was driven. When Julie had her mind set on something, there was no doubt that she would accomplish it. She was dedicated. No one in the world would do more for you with more dedication than her. She was loving and kind. This made her an incredible wife, mother, and friend. She was thoughtful. Every gift she ever gave required effort or had special meaning, and no event or accomplishment ever went uncelebrated. She was selfless. She gave everything she had in her to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a once in a lifetime kind of woman.
Julie loved spending time with her family. She loved to go shopping with her friends and her children. She loved doing crafts and activities with her grandchildren. They adored her for this. Her favorite hobby was her grandchildren in general. They called her JuJu and they are as big of fans of her as she was of them. She also enjoyed home décor and was very talented doing it.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hammy and Agnes LaFleur, Maurice and Alice Fruge, and her best friend Oscar the weenie dog.
She is survived by her parents, Alvin and Jane Fruge, her sister and brother-in-law, Lori and David Fontenot, her husband, Greg Reeves, her daughters Janey Blackshear, Katey Helms, and Caroline Reeves, and her grandchildren Evelynn and Cooper Blackshear, and soon to be born, baby Owen Helms.
