

Karl Edward Baker, age 95, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away August 26, 2019. He was born in Owen, Wisconsin, on June 26, 1924 to Dr. Karl W. Baker and Ella Wollenberg Baker. He married Elinor Elizabeth Seales on June 15th, 1946, a marriage and love that endured for 73 years.
He attained a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston in 1949 after being honorably discharged from the US Army Air Corps in 1945. He was a 1st Lieutenant navigator in the Mediterranean War theater operations. He later was deployed to the Korean War and honorably discharged from the US Air Force in 1953. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran and was extremely proud of that honor.
Karl had a career in Civil Engineering for the Texas Highway Department, Brown & Root, and FLUOR Engineering then later became an independent contractor. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, No. 14985.
His passions included fishing, both salt water around Galveston, Texas and freshwater in East Texas, gardening, and time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Karl W. Baker and Ella Wollenberg Baker, and his siblings, Bert Baker, Sue, Christine, Francis, and Lucy.
Karl is survived by his wife, Elinor; sons, Gary Edward Baker and wife Linda, Gordon Douglas Baker and wife Billye J.; grandchildren, Karlene Dell Baker-Green, Aaron David Baker, Ariella Elizabeth Baker Archer; great-grandchildren, James Andrew Baker, Austin Diego Baker, Rita Cierra Green, Louis Edward Green IV, Damien-Anthony Archer, Courtney Archer, and Sybrina Archer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. A Celebration of Karl’s Life will follow at 2:00 pm, with interment at Forest Park East Cemetery.
