Mary Kathleen Freeman Collins, age 90, of Pasadena, Texas passed away October 16, 2020. Born in Sunflower, MS, Kathleen was a devoted housewife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who took great pride and joy in her family. Kathleen was a very active and longtime member of Parkwood United Methodist Church, and Deer Park United Methodist Church, respectively.
Known for being everyone’s rock, Kathleen’s gentle ways, kindness and sweetness, will be missed. To know her, was to fully understand the true meaning of love. Kathleen was a talented cook who enjoyed preparing meals and treats for her family, friends and all of the neighborhood children. Kathleen especially enjoyed spending time with her special circle of friends, quilting, watching the Astros, and traveling the world w/her husband, who worked for Pan Am at JSC NASA.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Marion Freeman (Agnes); husband Martin Franklin Collins; sister Sara Freeman McGovern; brothers Henry Neel Freeman and George Marion Freeman, and granddaughter Jennifer Gail Collins.
She is survived by her children Judy White, Kathy Kethan, and Danny Collins and his wife Pam; sister Jean McBride; brother David Freeman; grandchildren Karen White, Mark White, Amy Pinter, Catherine Pederson; and Chris Collins; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews who truly adored their “Aunt Bit.”
A visitation for Kathleen will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Forest Park East Cemetery. The funeral home respectfully requests the use of face masks while in the funeral home. The family would love that all in attendance wear vibrant and joyful colors of celebration to celebrate a life well lived. The family requests that donations in Kathleen’s memory be made to the American Diabetes Association @ diabetes.org. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Collins family.
