Lana Rae Sommer, 72, of Nassau Bay, Texas, went home to the Lord on November 18, 2025. She was born on October 31, 1953, in St. Charles, Missouri, to Edwin and Vera Ostmann. Lana shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage with her loving husband, Raymond Sommer.
Lana and Ray made their home in several communities throughout St. Charles, Missouri, before settling in Old Monroe, where they lived for 20 years. After retirement, Lana moved to Texas to be closer to her son and grandchildren, a chapter of life she cherished deeply. She loved traveling with Ray—especially their trips out west and their special visits to Germany. She found joy in time spent with her grandchildren, hunting for antiques and good deals, and baking banana bread with her granddaughter.
Lana is survived by her husband, Ray; her son Jonathan and his wife, Lucie; and her three beloved grandchildren, Kenlon, Hank, and Luella, all of Nassau Bay. Living in the home just behind her family, Lana was a daily and loving presence in their lives, and her absence will be felt in countless ways. She will also be dearly missed by her two cats, Henry and Trash Can.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you share your favorite memory or a photo of Lana and mail it to her son, Jonathan. These will be gathered into a memory book for Ray, who is currently in memory care, so that Lana’s love and legacy remain close to him and to her grandchildren.
