

Larry G. Harper was born September 11, 1946 and passed April 20, 2011. He is preceded in death by parents, William E. Harper and Margaret Elizabeth Harper and survived by daughter, Macie Marie and twin son’s Derek H. and Justin T. Harper, three brothers and wives, William E. and Drenda, James H. and Melba, Ross A. and Sheryl. He is also survived by an uncle and aunt, Henry and Dorothy Harper and an aunt, Nina Panter, as well as many nieces, nephew and cousins. He will be fondly remembered by special friends, Sylvia Davis of Pasadena, TX and navy buddy, Ronnie Davis and wife Janice of Shreveport, LA.
Larry was born in Houston, TX but moved to Galveston at the age of 7. There he grew up and attended school, but moved to Pasadena, TX at the age of 16 where he attended Pasadena High and graduated in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and returned home in 1969. He was on the USS Bon Homme Richard, where he met Ronnie Davis, a lifelong friend, and then he spent a short tour of land duty in Vietnam in 1969. He worked for the FAA as a Data Specialist, serving in several cities and finally at IAH in Houston. He moved to Deer Park in 2004 and retired in 2007. He always loved Galveston and would visit his boyhood friend, Billy Heer, as much as possible. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his kid’s on the Frio River near Garner State Park.
The family will be accepting guests at Forest Park East Funeral Home Sunday, April 24, 2011 from 3pm till 5pm with funeral services to be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 12:30
