Lawrence Melvin Small, Jr., 68, of Dayton, Texas passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama on September 23, 1949 to Lawrence Melvin Small, Sr. and Virginia Dare Warren. He was married to Connie Small for 26 years. Lawrence joined the US Navy in 1968. He worked as a crane operator for over 40 years for various construction companies; mainly Brown & Root after leaving the military in 1973. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sight-seeing, and especially spending time with his dog, Brownie.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister Patricia Ann Boone.
He is survived by his loving wife Connie Small; son Jimmy Small and wife Stacy; step-daughter Angela Walden and husband Jason; grandchildren Michael and Kaitlyn Walden; brothers Terry Edge and wife Judy and Bobby Small; sister Carol Casto and husband Patrick; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Brownie.
Visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas, 77598 on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Forest Park East Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Small, Terry Edge, Bill Portice, Johnny Black, Bobby Small, and Ronnie Zamorano.
