

She graduated from South Park High School in 1957, in Beaumont Texas. She married her loving husband, C.J. Leslie, on January 30, 1959.
Lera loved to enter sweepstakes and won two cars and a house along with many other prizes over the years. Lera also loved to play piano and sing hymns, especially in the choirs that her husband directed. She also loved playing cards with her grandkids and doing daily crossword puzzles with her husband while drinking their morning coffee.
Lera is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother John Earl Halpin. Lera is survived by her son, Craig Leslie, and wife, Shawn, of League City, and her daughter, Laura Lea Leslie Shelley, and husband, Charles, of Houston. Lera is also survived by her three bundles of joy, grandsons Jacob (fiancé Riley) and Joshua Leslie and granddaughter Elizabeth Shelley. Lera also leaves behind her sister, Claire Jean Perry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who affectionately knew her as Aunt B.
Lera’s heart was full of love for her family, especially her grandchildren, who will remember her as the best Mamaw.
A visitation for Lera will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas 77598. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas 77598. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Texas 77598.
