It’s with a heavy heart that I must tell you my dear sister, Marilyn Ruth Hyde, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at HCA Mainland Hospital in Texas City, Texas. Marilyn became nonresponsive in bed at The Shoal Rehab and Nursing facility, her home since 2014. She was transported to HCA Mainland Hospital by EMS but they were unable to revive her.
She will be buried in the Kessmann family plot in Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas in a graveside service.
Marilyn suffered with Parkinson’s Disease for many years, and more recently with Heart and Lung issues. She had been ill for so long that many people did not know she was an accomplished Geophysicist and Magna cum laude graduate of Lamer University, Beaumont, Texas. She owned her own geophysical exploration company and she worked for several major oil companies all over the world searching for oil and gas reserves.
Marilyn now joins her baby daughter, Shana Rene Andrus, our parents Nick and Harriette Hyde, my husbands Edward Horwitz and Roy Kessmann, and numerous family members and friends in heaven. I will dearly miss my beautiful, sweet, smart little sister. May her memory be a blessing.
A very special thanks to Dr. Robin Armstrong, Sorita Tran F-NPC, Guy Nelson F-NPC with Armstrong Group; Dr. Joseph Prince and Dr. Artie Cantu with Mainland Pulmonary; and the staff at The Shoal Rehab and Nursing Facility for caring for Marilyn all these years.
