

Marjorie Scarlett Cavanaugh, aged 102, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on August 2, 2025. Scarlett was born on May 14, 1923, in Sacramento, California, to her parents, John and Nellie Hamlyn.
During the 1940s, Scarlett was known for her singing and traveled around the United States as part of the Big Band era, performing as the Holiday Dreamers. She had a passion for "Gone with the Wind," especially relating to the character "Scarlett," and was a master bridge player. She sang at supper and military clubs and lounges where she entertained the patrons. Later in life, Scarlett enjoyed cruises with Diane, in daughter-in-law, cherishing the memories and adventures they shared together.
Scarlett was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathleen Bates, and her son John Cavanaugh. She is survived by her son Gerald Cavanaugh, Sr., his wife Diane, and her grandchildren Lisa, Cheryl, Gerald, Jr., John, and Michael along with seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas, on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
The funeral service will occur at the same venue at 2:00 pm with a committal service to follow.
