Marlon had a wonderfully simple way about him—steady, straightforward, and most at ease when the sky was big and the day had room to breathe. If there was a line in the water, a camp chair nearby, or an excuse to be outdoors, that was his kind of plan. Add in classic rock on the speakers and the unmistakable presence of his Harley Davidson, and you pretty much had his idea of a perfectly good time.
He was married to Linda (Smith) Dawkins for 47 years before her passing in 2016. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Myra Ann Hosmer.
He is survived by his sons, Marlon Dawkins Jr. and his wife Jolene Dawkins, Jason Dawkins and his wife Lori Dawkins; grandchildren, Hayden and his wife Marissa, Hannah, Nathan, Kayden; great-grandchildren Ava, Lyla, Ace; nephew Bobby Hosmer Jr and his wife Mary Sue Hosmer.
