Mary Ann Kelly, age 71, of League City, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1953, in Kingsville, Texas, and spent most of her life in League City, where she raised her children and built a life filled with love and kindness.
Mary Ann dedicated over 40 years of her life as a compassionate and skilled dental assistant. She had a deep love for animal rescue and was deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was known for her boundless kindness and generosity—always willing to help anyone in need, offering wisdom, warmth, and even humor to lighten difficult moments. Mary Ann was “Mom” to everyone, never hesitating to give the shirt off her back, quite literally. Her presence made others feel heard, cared for, and never alone.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie Freedman and Debra Moody; her brother, Dan Plume; her sisters, Caranelle Shankle and Deborah Lent; and her five beloved grandchildren.
Mary Ann once shared these words that perfectly reflect her spirit: “Being of help is a wonderful feeling. Knowing my efforts have lightened someone’s load or helped them feel a little less alone fills my heart. I am a compassionate listener and an open and accepting presence… I keep my mind open and my heart soft, so others are comfortable revealing their tenderest selves to me. I am the hands and feet of God on earth, making contributions to the world in the spirit of gratitude, peace, and love.” Her love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A service to honor and celebrate Mary Ann’s life will be held on March 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home in League City, Texas.
