Mary Marie "Mimi" Krnavek, at the age 78, leaves behind the love of her life of 59 years, Jimmy, and her four daughters; Jamie and her husband Tommy Daniel, Jay Krnavek, Jody and her husband Robert Cerisano, and Jill and her husband Paul Sellers; her nine grandchildren, Curran, Mason, and Cameron Daniel; Jillian and Devan Letemendia; Ian and Alex Cerisano; Zoe and Von Sellers; her nephew Doug Young and wife Cindy with their two children and grandchildren; Nieces Jeanette and husband Dale Cook; Kay and her husband Ricky Parrish and their children and grandchildren. Mimi now joins her parents, Lawton and Clara May, and sisters, Jerrine and Patty, and brother Freddie in eternal life.
Mimi was born in Baird, TX, on November 27th, 1942. After attending Texas Tech for a semester, she quickly realized the love of her life was in Seattle and rushed to join him. After a quick wedding at St Pius Catholic Church their amazing love story began and lasted 59 years. The relationship, sacrifice and incredible love they shared created a model for their girls to continue to follow through the rest of their lives.
Mimi had four daughters that definitely gave her a run for her money. But as a caring, strong mother, she was always up for the challenge. Mimi was involved in many activities including PTA, director of the drill team, and was the best cheerleader for her daughters at their early morning swim meets. She had a gift of sewing and made many school dance dresses, drill team uniforms, and even a fully-beaded wedding dress.
In her later years as a grandmother, Mimi enjoyed attending and rarely missed her grandchildren's sports events. She fancied The Eagles' music, anything sweet, and loved to read in her spare time. Mimi was an excellent player of the traditional Czech game Tarocks, and was the final winner of the long-running Wednesday night Tarocks game with Jimmy, Uncle Larry and Aunt Betty Jo Paar.
Along with the demanding Mom duties, she worked at NASA as a data librarian during the early space exploration days. Together with her partner in crime, Catherine Garofolo, they somehow made their serious, not-so-exciting job fun, and produced many great stories that we will cherish forever.
Mimi was a born historian with a passion for learning, which naturally led her to genealogy. This passion allowed her to trace her family back to the 14th century. Mimi was always there for her family and loved each and every one of them dearly. Her husband, Jimmy, stood by her side and cared for her throughout her entire life. He treated her like a queen and always saw her as the young, strong, West Texas girl that he married 59 years ago.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if donations were made in Mary Marie's name to the COPDfoundation.org.
