

R. Matthew Stamps, 55, of Clear Lake, Texas passed away peacefully on August 28, 2014 surrounded by friends and family. Born February 15, 1959 in Texas City, Texas, Matt proudly loved his family, fervently supported his Houston Texans, and served his community in the city he called home. Matt successfully managed juvenile diabetes from an early age and throughout his life. In recent years complications from this disease presented hardships which he courageously preserved through to live and enjoy life to the fullest, including family vacations to Hawaii and Disney. Matt is survived by his wife, Kelly Dietz Stamps; daughter Meghan Stamps; daughter and son-in-law Fallon and AJ Benavides; step daughters Ashley and Tiffany Dietz. He is also survived by two brothers Donald and Rai Stamps as well as a loving, extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and grand-dogs, all of whom remember him fondly and mourn his passing. The Stamps family has deep gratitude to share with many friends and family who have supported Matt's journey in recent years. Especially his Ineos family for whom he worked for 12 years; they showed continued dedication and support throughout all of the challenges Matt faced. Additionally, the Dietz and Thompson families who lovingly provided care and friendship. Finally, Matt's extensive medical team including Dr. T. Fakuda, Dr. S. Su, Clear Lake Wound Care Center, Methodist Nephrology team, and TheraCare Home Health. A memorial reception will follow at approximately 7:00pm, with details to be provided at the service. Please feel free to wear comfortable attire, including "geeky" t-shirts, to the memorial reception.
