Melba Hartwig went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2018. She was born in Lisbon, Louisiana on January 13, 1925 to Earl and Ann Killgore. She married Albert E. Hartwig Jr. of Lawrence, Massachusetts on June 25, 1949 in the Trinity Episcopal Church, Galveston, Texas.
She is survived by her four daughters, Alicia Toler of Houston, Texas; Barbara Russell and husband John Russell of Caldwell, Texas; Candace Childress and husband Matt Childress of Sealy, Texas; Debbie Hill and husband Charlie Hill of Cypress, Texas; two sister-in laws, Kathy Kilgore of Lufkin, Texas and Edith Shapiro of Windsor Locks, Connecticut; grandchildren, Robert Owens, Shawn Owens, Katie Kaiser, Tara Kana, Leslie Hill, Cody Childress, Chase Childress, Jimmy Toler, Debbie Chatman; and great grandchildren, Madelyn, Fisher, Jaxon, Natalie, Weston, Harper, Drake, Brayden and Ema Grace; along with very much loved numerous nieces and nephews.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband Al Hartwig, mother Ann Swint Killgore, brothers Loy Kilgore and Robert Kilgore and sisters Wilma Kimbell and Mable Wise.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 9:00am- 10am in the Chapel at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598 with a committal service to follow.
