Merdie Marie Winzer, 93, died at 5:20am on Thursday, August 31,2023 in Friendswood, Texas.

Merdie Marie Benoit was born September 17, 1929, in Orange, TX to Clevence and Claudia Benoit. Merdie was the oldest of 10 children who all grew up in Beaumont, TX. Merdie married Clarence Winzer at 17 and remained married for 57 years until his passing in 2003. The couple moved to Bacliff, TX and were residents for 64 years, where they raised a family of 7 children. Merdie worked for the CCISD, as a Cafeteria Manager most of her career. She loved to cook and was the best! Her gumbo was out of this world!

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clevence and Claudia Benoit, her husband, Clarence Winzer, her son, Cecil Ray Winzer and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by 6 children, Barbara, and Richard (spouse) LaCour, Joyce Raines, Linda Yarcho, Bonnie, and Ted (spouse) Cooke, Walter Winzer and Brenda Winzer. Also survived by 95 Grandchildren.

Merdie dedicated her love, time, and energy to her family. They were her greatest joy!

Funeral services will be held at “Forest Park East Funeral Home” 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Tx 77598, on September 6, 2023. The viewing will be at 9am, service at 10am and graveside at 11am.
