Michael Wayne Bush, resident of Houston, passed away on February 17, 2019 at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital at the age of 65 years. Michael was born on October 1, 1953 at Pasadena General Hospital. He graduated from Milby High School in 1972. He was raised and spent most of his life in Houston. He worked as a pipefitter for several chemical plants in Houston, which he loved. He also worked in parts procurement for several different companies. He, his brother and father ran Triple B and worked on buses, some of which belonged to Freddy Fender, Van Halen, Mickey Gilley and several others. Michael loved to watch movies, loved history shows and was always interested in learning how something worked or how something was done.
Michael was a joker. He loved to tell stories and talk and talk and talk…. When he worked for World Wide Parts and Equipment there was a guy that worked at one of the places that they bought parts from that he would call when he would have a new joke. He would say something like “How are you doing today Alfed?” As soon as Alfred heard it was Michael he would start laughing because he knew that Michael had called him to tell him a new joke. He was also a romantic at heart. He probably watched every Hallmark movie they put out. He usually never missed an anniversary, birthday or Valentine’s Day. He always tried hard to make it a very memorable occasion. Pamala's engagement ring came in a Christmas present that was a tackle box full of fishing stuff. It was hidden in one of the items in the box. And lastly, but most of all he had a huge heart and was a very generous man that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
Michael was an avid outdoors person that loved archery, to hunt anything, anywhere, fish and shoot skeet. He loved dogs, Golden Retriever especially. He loved to work with the dog on retrieving and watch them work the field to retrieve a bird. He loved to travel and see new places. Family always would try to guess what time he would get to a function because he would make so many stops on the way to where he was going. If he saw something interesting, he needed to go check it out.
He will be deeply missed by his wife – Pamala Steffens Bush, sisters – Dianne Bush Flower and Katherine Bush Dyer, brother – Ricky Lane Bush & wife Socorro Benavides, step-daughter – Amanda Schmidt & husband Brandon Schmidt, and granddaughters – Kynee & Lily Schmidt. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: father Lenton Ogden Bush Jr., mother Voncile Havard Bush, sisters Linda Stanley and Gloria Jean Scott, and niece Tracy Lynn Scott.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 21 from 5:00-8:00PM with a Celebration of Michael’s life held Friday, February 22 at 12:30PM, both at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas.
