Born on March 24, 1962, Michael attended Vidor High School and Central Texas College. He built a life marked by service to his country, devotion to family, and lasting ties to the military community. He served in the United States Air Force from November 5, 1979, to May 10, 1994, including service in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm Gulf War as a Ground Radio Communications Craftsman. Although he was medically retired from the Air Force, his connection to military life remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.
Michael also found great pleasure in hunting at Cat’s Deer Lease and traveling with his wife, Monalisa. He especially cherished time with his grandchildren: taking his granddaughters, his “GBaby” girls, for manicures and pedicures, and watching and talking sports with his grandsons. These precious moments reflected the joy he found in being with them.
He is survived by Monalisa, the love of his life for 45 years; his daughter, Natasha Curry, and son-in-law, Kenneth Curry; his son, Jeremy Norton; and his grandchildren, Bailee, Malakai, Heath, Cheyenne, and Veronica. He is also survived by his Uncle Robert and Aunt Linda Norton, along with many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Norton; his mother, Carolyn Walzem; his brother, David Norton; his stepfather, Ben Walzem; his stepsister, Pat Walzem; his stepbrother, Robert Walzem; and his grandparents, Jefferson and Mary Green, and Freddie and Ida Belle Norton.
Michael worshiped at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Pearland, Texas.
He will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas, on Friday, October 23, 2026. Visitation will begin at 12 noon, funeral services will begin at 1:00pm, with graveside Military Honors at 2:00pm.
Those closest to Michael Norton will always remember his love for his family, his years of military service, and the time they shared with him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
