James Michael Blake, 71 and residing in Kemah, passed away on April 10, 2018. He was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on August 23, 1946 to James H. and “Betty Lou!!!” Blake. He was married to Carey Blake for 4 years. Mike had a career in the Oil and Gas industry for UTEX Industries.
He was a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and a Lifetime Member of the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Committee, which he was a fixture at for more than 35 years. He was also an avid outdoor lover, and lived to race, hunt, and fish.
Racing was a passion he followed his whole life, and in his later years he became an active participant and sponsor through Blake Brothers Racing, with his brothers and family, and friends that would become family.
The Adobe Ranch was a passion that so consumed Mike, he chose it as his final resting spot.
He was preceded in death by both parents, and his younger brothers Steve and David.
He is survived by his Wife Carey, Brothers John and Tom and wife Nadine, and sister-in-law Anne. Sons Mike, Jeff, Jason, and Travis. Stepdaughters Jessica and husband Russel, Bianca, and Sasha. Grandchildren Jeremy, Cassidy, Alex, Avery, Arden, Nyla, and Arya. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mike will be held this Saturday the 14th at 12:30 at Dominion Church, 6400 Calder Dr Dickinson TX, 77539. Do not use google maps, as the primary road is closed. Take FM 517 and turn North on Calder Rd.
