

Muriel Adele Barmore, age 84, and a resident of Deer Park, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 17, 2014. Muriel was born in Midland, Texas on October 15, 1929 to Warren and Quintie Floyd and spent her early childhood on a west Texas farm in Andrews County. She grew up in Big Spring, Texas and later attended Mary Hardin Baylor and Hardin Simmons University. She met her husband, Bill Barmore, in Big Spring, Texas in 1949, and they married in 1950.
Muriel and Bill moved to Houston, Texas in 1950 and to Pasadena, Texas in 1958 where they remained and formed a successful insurance agency, later passing it down to their sons. Muriel was an active member of Pasadena's First United Methodist Church since 1957. She taught Sunday School, served on her Church's historical/archive committee and was a member of the same couples Sunday School class for over 50 years.
Muriel served as a Cub Scouts Den mother, PTA President, Little League team mother, officer in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and Rotary Ann President. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, was an accomplished artist and loved to travel. She said that her proudest accomplishments were helping her husband establish a successful insurance business and raising her three sons.
Muriel was predeceased by her parents, by her husband of 58 years, William C. "Bill" Barmore, and by her sister Annabelle Floyd. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Mike & Anna Barmore, Bill & Jackie Barmore, Jim and Peggy Barmore, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and her brother, Bill Floyd.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX 77504. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, it was Muriel’s request that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Pasadena, 1062 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, TX 77504.
