Nicole was born on December 5, 1971, to her adoring mother Cherryl Kemoy Samuel in the city of San Fernando on the island of Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. She was baptized on March 5, 1972, in the Parish Church of Saint Paul. Nicole migrated to St. Croix U.S. Virgin Islands at 4 months old in 1972 and moved briefly to New York, NY for one year before settling with her family in Houston, TX in 1979.
Nicole graduated Magna Cum Laude from Jack Yates High School in Houston, TX and continued her education at Prairie View A & M University. Nicole was later accepted into Texas Women’s University with a 4.0 GPA where she pursued her nursing career.
During a summer internship at Chevron, Nicole met the love of her life, Thurman Eugene Robinson Jr. They were married on July 1, 1995, in Houston, TX. Partners in love and life, their union was blessed with one son, Nicholas “Nick” Cornell Robinson. Nick was born on December 6, 1996, just one day shy of sharing her birthday. Nick immediately became the center and light of Thurman and Nicole’s lives. As a mother, Nicole was gifted. She was the personification of motherhood, pouring herself into loving Nick unconditionally, teaching and guiding him to his fullest potential. Nick was and will forever be, her pride and joy.
Nicole loved being a wife and mother, but also found great enjoyment in caring for her canine companion Chanel, writing, journaling, and cooking. Affectionately nicknamed Chef Yum Yum, she took great delight in feeding her family and friends. She was a kind, beautiful soul with a tender, gentle, and empathic spirit. She felt the weight of the world and cared so deeply for everyone in it. She was tenacious about life and love, never giving in or giving up on either. This is her legacy, never stop doing all things in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14)
She will be forever missed.
Nicole was preceded in death by her grandfather Hugh Younglao, uncle Kenwyn Younglao, and Cousin Benjamin Younglao.
She leaves so many to cherish her legacy and honor her life – including her husband Thurman Eugene Robinson Jr, son Nicholas Cornell Robinson, father and mother Jonathan Charles and Cherryl Kemoy Samuel; brother Charles Choy Samuel, grandmother Euclyn Lee Young (US citizen residing in Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies), uncles Keith Ian Younglao, Christopher Garth Younglao (Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies) and Peter Curt Younglao (Michigan, US), nieces Jazmin Jade Samuel, Meilin Kemoy Samuel, and first cousins Brandon and Emilee Younglao, nephew Myles Todd West, nieces Alexis Samone Robinson, Kinley Kay Robinson, Jena Ann Robinson, Kennedy Oni West.
