Norma Rae Dickey, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away February 9, 2019. She was born in Caddo Parish Shreveport, Louisiana on July 19, 1932 to Jesse Elmore Burke and Kathleen M. Cruse Burke. She was married to Luther H. Dickey, Jr..
Norma worked for the IRS for 2 years and then spent 25 years as a reading teacher and counselor for Pasadena, ISD. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pasadena, American Rose Society and the Delta Kappa Gamma.
Norma took joy in all that life had to give. She enjoyed her roses, dachshunds, Krispy Kreme Donuts and the Astros. She had a special place in her heart for the Lord and children. She loved being an educator to the children.
She was preceded in death by husband, Luther Harvey Dickey, Jr.; son, Morris Ben (Butch) Dickey; Parents, Jesse and Kathleen Burke; numerous aunts and uncles and grandparents.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah Dickey of Houston; son, Douglas Allen Dickey and fiancé Lisa Mongiello of League City; grandson, Jeremy Michael Dickey; nieces, Trish Miles and Suzette Davis and longtime friend and neighbor Babe Reich.
Mom always wanted a big family and was looking forward to gaining 4 new grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. They all brought her lots of joy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas 77598. Services will be held February 15, 2019 at 10:00 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
