Jean retired from Exxon with close to 30 years of service. She was awarded perfect attendance many times. She stuck to her schedule and liked having a routine. Jean loved to garden in her yard with the help of her many felines. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. Jean loved her sweets and her Dr. Pepper! She was very creative and loved to put together personal gift baskets and bags for family at Christmas and for birthdays. She put a lot of thought and time into each gift. Jean also loved decorating her home for each occasion. She was kind-hearted and had a dry sense of humor. Anytime you came to visit she would have your favorite drink nice and cold for you. She was someone you could confide in; she was like the Fort Knox of keeping secrets.
She was preceded in death by her brothers J.R. Gunn, Dorman Gunn, and sister Joy Fox.
Norma Jean is survived by her daughters Donna Rivera and Karen Jordan (Jay); sister Mary Ruth Pope; grandchildren Joshua Jordan (Jordan), Tayler Rivera, Kortney Jordan (Martin), and Mackenzie Rivera; great-grandchildren Hailey Pineda, John Jordan, Sky Flores, and Charlotte Jordan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the family.
