Paul is survived by his sister, Camille Stutz of California; his children, Deborah Lively (Artie
Lively), Marcia Erickson (Kent Erickson) and Pam Horsman (Chris Hedrick); and his
grandchildren Maureen McRae, Keesha Erickson (Vince Dorzweiler), Langley Erickson and
Mead Erickson.
Paul was born in 1933 in Washington D.C. to Harold and Marie Horsman, as the fifth of their six
children. Following a tour in the Navy stationed on Guam, he graduated from Woodward Prep
in Washington D.C. and University of Florida at Gainesville with a degree in Engineering. In
1958, Paul began working for NASA as one of the original engineers at Langley Field, Virginia.
Paul and his young family moved to Houston, Texas in 1962 with the space program. Then
moved to Nassau Bay the following year to work at the newly built NASA Manned Spacecraft
Center – now Johnson Space Center. He lived the rest of his life Nassau Bay, retiring from
NASA in 1997. He was known in the neighborhood for riding his bike to work, and volunteering
to keep the neighborhood pool equipment operating.
Beginning in the 1970s, he found a lot of satisfaction in physical fitness: lap swimming, playing
underwater hockey, bicycling and running. He ran marathons and triathlons into his 50s, and
enjoyed the annual Houston Moonlight Bicycle Ramble. He was an enthusiastic supporter of
his children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors – watching more volleyball than humanly possible
and faithfully attending every art opening.
No services are scheduled at this time. The family would like to thank the hospice team for his
care.
