Paula Ann Comeaux, 91, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, in League City, Texas. Born on March 7, 1935, in Shelby County, Texas, Paula lived a life filled with love, devotion, and care for her family and community. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lemuel and Annie Neely, husband James Comeaux, and siblings Frank Neely, Faye Cuellar, and George Neely.
Paula shared 44 loving years with her husband James "Jimmy" Comeaux, who passed away in 2004. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and adventure. A devout Catholic and member of St. Mary of the Expectation Church, Paula’s faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
For 25 years, Paula worked as the manager of the Kohfeldt/Fry Cafeteria in Texas City ISD. Her dedication to her work reflected her nurturing spirit and commitment to serving others. Beyond her professional life, Paula found immense joy in camping and traveling with Jimmy. The couple spent countless hours exploring the United States with their truck and travel trailer joined by family and friends, creating cherished memories along the way.
Paula’s hobbies also included reading and painting, and she was a talented artist. However, nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter Suzanne Bucher and son-in-law Robert; a proud grandmother to Jeremy Medlin (and his wife Martha), Sarah Flores (and her husband Robert III), and Kaitlin Airola (and her husband Anthony); a loving great-grandmother to Aracelie Everett, Jordan Flores, Daniella Medlin, Robert Flores IV, Catalina Medlin, Evelyn Airola, and James Airola, and a devoted big sister to Karen Watt and Mary Bickley.
Her family remembers Paula as caring, funny, and kindhearted—a woman who unselfishly gave of herself to others. She was especially devoted to caring for Jimmy during his battle with cancer over many years. Her strength and compassion were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Paula’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Paula’s life will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy Webster, TX, on May 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church in League City, TX, on May 23 at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, TX, at 12:00 p.m. In honor of Paula’s love for flowers and color, those attending are invited to wear bright or colorful clothing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Paula to League City Pets Alive, an all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and finding loving homes for abandoned cats and kittens. Leaguecitypetsalive.org/donate
