Obituary of Peggy Joyce Carlisle

Peggy Joyce McMahan Carlisle of Webster, Texas went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on March 3, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born on February 17, 1928 to Earl and Nubia McMahan. She was raised in Prairie Lea, Texas where she met her future husband George Barber Carlisle.

She attended Southwest Texas State University and The University Of Texas.

She & George married on September 16, 1950 & moved to the Clear Lake area (Webster) in Texas where George began his teaching career and where they raised their three children.

Peggy worked at NASA from 1964-1988, where she gave many years of dedicated service to our nation’s space program during the early stages of its development.

Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, George, her two sons, George Jr. (Buddy) and Billy, and by her twin brother, Ross.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Garrison, her daughter-in-law Jenny Carlisle and former daughters-in-law Kim Rhodes and Shannon Oakes. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Brent (Chandra) and Brandon Garrison (Laura), Wilson, Weston, Wyndon and Kaleigh Carlisle, and Kelsey Carlisle Gross (Zach); as well as her 6 great-grandchildren: J.B., Abigail, Shelby, Adrian, Brendon and Brookleigh.

Peggy was a devoted wife and basketball Mom. She was an avid Houston Astros fan in addition to enjoying cooking, especially baking. She and George shared a wonderfully full life and enjoyed traveling the world prior to his death in 2011.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to Home Helpers caregiver Andrea Mcbryde for her caring support and companionship to Peggy. Thanks also to the compassionate Village Home Health & Hospice nurses who helped her so much.

Peggy will be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched for her warm, generous spirit and loving ways.

Arrangements under the direction of Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, Webster, Texas. Private services will be held.
